Victorian Stove Discovered at Wycliffe

 |  7th Apr 2019

An exciting find has been made this spring when the Wycliffe maintenance team uncovered a Victorian cast iron stove, which had been hidden behind the walls of the workshop for 30 years. The team also discovered remains of newspapers inside the stove, dating back to 1935.

Operations Manager, Phil Chapman said, “we were in the process of rearranging the workshop when we decided to remove the board over a large fireplace. To our surprise we found an old cast iron stove in pieces. The team cleaned up the chimney and found all the original parts inside.  We were able to put the stove back together. We plan to make an exhibit of it by protecting it with clear protective sheeting and provide some mood lighting.”
