Dr Erin Heim Becomes Wycliffe's New Tutor in Biblical Studies

by Revd Dr Justyn Terry, Vice Principal and Academic Dean  |  19th Dec 2018

I am very pleased to announce that Dr Erin Heim has accepted the invitation to become Tutor in Biblical Studies starting in January 2019. She has been teaching New Testament and mentoring students training for pastoral and academic ministry at Denver Seminary, Colorado, USA, since 2014. She has also been program director for their MA in Biblical and Theological studies.

Erin is one of the recipients for the Lautenschlaeger Award for Theological Promise for 2019.

Erin’s research interests include hermeneutics, theological interpretation of Scripture, and Pauline theology. She is the author of Adoption in Galatians and Romans (Brill, 2017), which was named an exceptional thesis in the division of humanities by the University of Otago in 2014. She also speaks and writes on issues surrounding contemporary practices of adoption and their intersection with Christian ethics and praxis.

Erin is married to Peter, who is a bi-vocational pastor and social worker, and they have two children: Elise and Finn. Erin is passionate about her scholarship mobilizing the church to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God, and she gets particularly excited about helping students to grapple with the magnitude of the gospel, and about practicing hospitality in the context of parish ministry.

Please pray for Erin and her family as they prepare to move to Oxford over the coming months.
