Church of England

Wycliffe Hall has its historic roots in the Church of England, and we remain fully committed to mission and ministry within the national church and in the international Anglican Communion.

The Hall prepares men and women for ordained ministry within the Church of England.   In this we work with dioceses and with the Ministry Division.  The Church of England is constantly reviewing its provision of ministry training, so as to meet today’s challenges.  Recently, for example, the category of Pioneer Missional Ordinands has been introduced; Wycliffe Hall is enthusiastic about this development, and already has students in this category.  We are also committed to developing effective mixed mode training, in which students can combine study and ministry.

Our staff contribute to the life of the Church of England in all sorts of different ways. Many are active in particular in local churches; some are playing significant roles in the wider structures and debates of the Church of England and of the Anglican Communion. Examples of this interaction were two major Anglican consultations in 2002 and 2007 organised and hosted by Wycliffe Hall.
