Spouses

Wycliffe Hall welcomes all spouses to join in with as many of the college activities as they like - social events, chapel services, meals, fellowship groups and lectures. Spouses are also free to use the library and borrow books and videos.

The college offers support for marriages and encourages ministerial students and their spouses to attend a local Marriage Course.

Contact

Contact is organised by and for the spouses of students at Wycliffe, helping them to:

  • continue to nurture their relationship with God
  • serve and support one another
  • prepare for future ministries and parish life
  • have fellowship, friendship and fun

Contact meets twice a week:

The main meeting is on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 in the Lower Common Room. It starts with fellowship over coffee then either a talk or small group Bible study, discussion and prayer on an aspect of preparing for life as a ministry spouse. The talks are given by experienced speakers, who often travel to Oxford to speak to us.

The Word Bible study meets in Seminar Room 1 on Thursdays from 1.15pm – 2.45pm. It is a safe environment to learn to lead a Bible study and a great way to get to know each other well. A free crèche is provided.

Children

All families are welcome to join the students for lunch at Wycliffe Hall, with the exception of Saturdays. Booster seats are available in the dining room.

Crèche
The Wycliffe Crèche is situated in one of the college buildings and is a safe, well-equipped room for pre-school children and babies. The part-time crèche co-ordinator, Hannie Riley, runs crèche sessions from 10am-12noon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays each week in term time. She organises a wide range of fun and creative activities for 0-4s with a team of volunteers from the college community and local churches. These sessions are pre-booked either for a whole term or one off sessions and cost £5.00 per session, payable at the end of each term. Download the Crèche Flyer for more information.

The room itself is a permanent fixture and parents are free to use the room and supervise their own children or to make informal arrangements amongst themselves for daytime babysitting.  The room can also be booked for events and parties for college families.

All-age services
Once a term, the college community runs an all-age service on a Thursday afternoon, followed by a children’s tea. All members of the community are encouraged to join together for this opportunity for worship, teaching, prayer and fellowship.
