Diploma in Theological and Pastoral Studies

This is a two-year course designed specifically as preparation for Christian ministry, as reflected by the range of subjects and the nature of material included in the course. Students at Wycliffe Hall are also involved in many other aspects of training.

  • There are no exams. All subjects are assessed by essays or assignments.
  • Completed work is submitted for external moderation.
  • Students are encouraged (but not required) to study Introductory Greek and Preachers’ Greek.
  • Some students also choose to take Hebrew in their second year.

Teaching and Study

  • Most teaching is conducted by Wycliffe Hall staff in lectures and small group seminars.
  • Most subjects require 2 essays and one larger project.
  • Students may use the Bodleian Library of Oxford University.  
  • Students may also attend university lectures by permission.
