Charles Simeon, John Stott and the Expository Preaching Method
11 - 15 June 2012
"Exposition", as John Stott memorably defined it, is the opposite of "imposition". Expository preaching seeks to let the biblical text speak for itself. John Stott claimed to have learnt this method from the great 19th-century preacher Charles Simeon.
This year’s School of Preaching will look at the preaching of both of these evangelical giants. We will consider what we might learn from their preaching and the transferability of expository preaching for today’s world-wide church. The conference will be a combination of lectures, seminars and bible expositions to stimulate head and heart.
Conference host: Revd Dr Simon Vibert; contributions from Wycliffe Hall faculty, Ian Shaw (Langham Partnership), Greg Scharf (Trinity Evangelical Divinity School) and others.
The cost of the conference is £150.
Accommodation in student rooms is available for £100 bed and breakfast. Lunch and Dinner is also available at an additional £40 for the week.
Bookings should be made using the online booking form.
