This is a one or two-year course for Church of England ordinands who already have a degree in theology, and is designed specifically as preparation for Christian ministry. It is validated by the Oxford Partnership for Theological Education and Training, a body which brings together the theological colleges in Oxford. Students at Wycliffe Hall are also involved in many other aspects of training.
The one-year course is designed as a final year course, following a 1 year Diploma in Theology or Master of Studies, or 2-year Master of Philosophy.
The two-year course consists of 6 longer and 6 shorter pieces of work in various subjects, including: Ethics, Liturgy, Pastoral Studies, Mission.

Six core areas that must have been covered in a degree or in the ODMTG:
Old & New Testament Ethics Pastoral Studies & Preaching Liturgy Mission
- Work is marked internally and then submitted for external moderation.
- Wycliffe Hall requires all ordinands to study Mission.
- An individual programme is devised to cover any core areas necessary and to allow study in other subjects that are appropriate or required for the student's future ministry.
- For the 2-year programme there are six additional supporting pieces of work, which are marked internally, and evidence of their satisfactory completion is sent with the moderated work.
- There are no exams, although those taking the option to have Greek assessed separately will be required to sit a written test.
Teaching and Study
- Most teaching is conducted by Wycliffe Hall staff in lectures and small group seminars.
- Students may use the Bodleian Library of Oxford University.
- Arrangements can also be made to use the Theology Faculty Library for a small fee.
- Students may also attend university lectures by permission.
- Some subject areas require course work in addition to the major pieces of work listed above.
