This is a two-year part-time course which introduces students to the main areas of biblical and theological study. This modular course is offered in partnership with the Oxford University Department for Continuing Education (OUDCE). Topics studied include Old and New Testament Theology, Doctrine, Mission and Church History.
Students attend weekly lectures at Wycliffe Hall on Wednesday evenings and participate in three Saturday study days per year. Students must complete ten written assignments of 2,500 words, plus an extended essay of 5,000 words. Successful completion of the course results in an undergraduate-level diploma from the University of Oxford.
The course is taught by tutors from Wycliffe Hall. The course is an excellent opportunity for people to benefit from the theological resources of Wycliffe Hall in a way that connects with their lives and ministry in the church and the wider world. Some students who have successfully completed the course have gone on to further training or used it as part of a Lay Ministry training programme within their dioceses.
The people on the course come from all walks of life and much of the positive environment of the course stems from the quality of the interaction that exists among the students. There are many opportunities for asking questions and for meeting others informally over refreshments.
