Three Year Ministerial Theology Courses

Wycliffe Hall offers two 3-year courses with different emphases and merits, as set out below. Both are accredited courses and give good training for ministry in the Church of England and other contexts. Further, some college training falls outside the course syllabus and is the same for all students, for example preaching and missions.

The Bachelor of Theology (BTh) is the normal 3-year course, appropriate for those who:

  • wish to integrate theological study and ministerial preparation.
  • prefer assessment in each year, with a mixture of long essays and written exams.
  • want time for other aspects of training and for family life.

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) is an option for those who:

  • enjoy detailed academic study, assessed by final written exams.
  • have the time for the heavy workload.
  • might have an interest in postgraduate theological study.
