Ministerial Theology Courses

“Be shepherds of God’s flock … eager to serve”

We offer a range of excellent ministerial theology courses that provide very good training for ministry with different emphases and benefits. If you apply to study at Wycliffe, we will often recommend a specific course for you, but sometimes leave you the choice.

The number and range of courses can be confusing. Answering the following questions and following the links will help guide you through the options:

Training for Christian ministry involves more than biblical and theological study.  All our students pursuing ministerial theology courses take full part in the ministerial preparation programme:

  • All ministry students participate in daily worship.
  • Everyone is part of a Fellowship Group which meets regularly for worship, prayer, Bible study and relaxation.
  •  Every student meets regularly with the Fellowship Group Tutor.
  • Important cross-curricular topics are covered in Integrated Study Weeks.
  •  There is a full programme of training for preaching, with lectures, seminars, workshops and sermon classes throughout the course, and supervised preaching engagements in the first year.
  • Students do weekly placements in their second and third years. These are often with a local church, but can also be in a specialised ministry such as a hospital or college chaplaincy. Everyone also does a full-time 5-week parish placement following their penultimate year.
  • Students follow a course on evangelism, and participate in one or two missions.
