Study at Wycliffe Hall

"love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind"

Our aim is to train Christian leaders to exercise their ministry more effectively in the church, the workplace, the community and the academy.  But future leaders have different starting points and different goals, so we offer a wide range of courses.

The Ministerial Theology Courses are for people who want to train for full-time Christian leadership, whether through ordination within the Church of England or another denomination, or in some other capacity.  Your choice of course will depend on several factors:

  • do you have 2 or 3 years funding?
  • have you studied theology before at University?
  • do you want more emphasis on theological foundation or on ministerial preparation?

The Academic Theology Courses are for people who want to gain a traditional degree in theology, or to pursue theological teaching and research.  These are all Oxford University undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications offered at Wycliffe Hall.

The Part-time, Specialist and Short Courses are for lay people who want to deepen their understanding of the Christian faith.  Some use these as a testing ground for exploring a possible ministerial vocation, while others are looking to be better equipped to serve Christ in their local church, community or workplace.
